Rome, 22 June (LaPresse) – Casper Ruud joins the list of absentees at Wimbledon. The Norwegian has not yet recovered from the left knee injury that became apparent in his second-round loss to Nuno Borges at Roland Garros. In addition to Ruud, two other players currently ranked in the Top 30 will also miss the tournament: France's Arthur Fils with a stress fracture in his back and the United States' Sebastian Korda with a persistent leg problem. The latest withdrawals have allowed Fabio Fognini to enter the draw, bringing the number of Italians directly admitted to the main draw of the men's singles Championships to 10. Furthermore, the three withdrawals from the Top 30 means that Matteo Berrettini is now virtually assured of a place among the top seeds. The Roman tennis player is expected to be ranked 35th in the world next week, behind Bublik, the recent winner of the ATP tournament in Halle.
