Rome, June 26 (LaPresse) – “I still haven’t fully realized everything because it all happened so fast. When I scored, it was such a quick emotion. I couldn’t believe it. I turned around and saw Lautaro and the others celebrating with me, and that’s when I said to myself: it really happened.”
This is what Inter striker Pio Esposito told Inter TV after scoring in the match against River Plate at the Club World Cup.
“It’s the second dream come true in just a few days. I’m extremely proud. I thank the coach for this opportunity and all my teammates for how they welcomed me.
Was I pumped up? Definitely. These are the matches I like most: the kind where you fight, where I can best use my skills — shielding the ball and helping the team move forward with lay-offs.
Of course, when you have champions like this beside you, everything is easier because you always get the ball played to your stronger foot. It all becomes much simpler, and I can just reap the rewards of their hard work.
The goal? I saw Peter make a great play and get closer and closer. Then the ball came to me really fast. I thought about controlling it and immediately setting it up on my right foot. One-on-one with the keeper, I decided to open up my body — and it worked.
We’re ready to keep fighting, we want to advance again, and we always want to win,” concluded a beaming Pio Esposito.
