Rome, June 29 (LaPresse) – An incident occurred on the Spielberg track just hours before the start of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. After the F2 race, a crane arrived to recover a vehicle stuck in the gravel but failed to retract its mechanical arm, hitting a billboard that then crashed onto the track. According to local media reports, no one was injured in the incident. According to the Kronen Zeitung, it is still unclear whether the F1 race can begin as scheduled at 15:00. Race officials at the Red Bull Ring – with around 30 assistants on duty – are working to clear the debris from the track. A fence was also damaged. The schedule for the day has been slightly disrupted: the Porsche Supercup race was delayed but eventually started, and the Legends Parade will still take place. Therefore, the F1 race does not seem to be compromised in any way.
