Turin, July 5 (LaPresse) – In the first of two test matches in their series against South Africa, Italy’s national rugby team was defeated 42-24 in Pretoria by the reigning world champions. Despite the loss, the Azzurri delivered a courageous performance, particularly in the second half, showing many positive signs. Italy scored three tries through Zuliani (who had a standout performance), Dimcheff, and Niccolò Cannone, and remained focused even in the toughest moments. South Africa showcased its full strength—structure, physicality, and technical skill—but after trailing 28-3 at halftime, Quesada’s squad reacted well and finished strongly.
