Turin, 9 Jul (LaPresse) – Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) won the fifth stage of Tour de France, the 33 km time trial with start and arrival in Caen. The time trial world champion completed his stage in 36'42‘, at an average speed of 54 km/h, preceding by 16’ Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), who conquered the leader's yellow jersey by taking it from Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), far from the best, and the green points jersey by taking it from Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek). Third place for Italian Edoardo Affini (Visma-Lease a bike), who finished 33 seconds behind the Belgian champion. On the other hand, it was a day to forget for Jonas Vingegaard: the Visma-Lease a bike captain lost 1'21" to Evenepoel and over a minute to his big rival for the final victory Pogacar.
