Milan, 12 July. (LaPresse) – Iga Swiatek is the new queen of Wimbledon. The Polish tennis player, seeded eighth but formerly world number one, won the women's singles title in a one-sided final against American Amanda Anisimova, seeded 13th, with a score of 6-0, 6-0 in just one hour of play. For the 24-year-old Swiatek, this is her sixth Grand Slam title, the first on the grass at Wimbledon. The Polish player remains unbeaten in major finals, having won all six she has played. The dream of American Anisimova, who had a tournament beyond expectations, came to an end in the final, but she perhaps paid the price for her emotions and inexperience in her first Slam final. Swiatek is the eighth different champion at Wimbledon in the last eight seasons. Watching the match from the Royal Box was the Princess of Wales, Kate, who, as is tradition, presented the trophy to the tournament winner.
