Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) – "Considering the year I’ve had, this is definitely at the top of the list. It’s an incredible tournament," said Jannik Sinner in an interview with the American broadcaster Classnbc, the day after his Wimbledon victory.
"I don’t think you can compare yourself to Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. They have done it for 15 years, we’ve only been doing it for a few. Let’s see if we can do the same. But there is respect among us, and off the court, we are friends as well. Every great player needs someone to push them beyond their limits, and for us, that’s true. We even know each other in our teams, and that makes a difference," he added, referring to his special rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz.
On what he thought when entering the Wimbledon court against Alcaraz, who had beaten him in Paris, Sinner said, "I tried to think positively. Every match starts from zero, has a different story, and anything can happen. I gave it my all, and this time the result was positive. I kept telling myself that I had come close in Paris—it was a great match. Playing Carlos on a Centre Court is special; many people watch you, even from outside the stadium. But at the same time, you have to stay focused on yourself. I’m happy with how I managed everything. And as I always say, he pushes me to improve."
