Turin, 21 July (LaPresse) – Several changes in the Italian rankings in the women's world rankings published this morning by the WTA after the conclusion of the WTA 250 tournaments in Hamburg and Iasi. Once again this week, there are three Italian players in the top 100. Jasmine Paolini remains the Italian leader: the 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, who took a break after Wimbledon and also skipped the Hopman Cup, is stable in ninth place. Behind her, Lucia Bronzetti drops six places to number 70, while Elisabetta Cocciaretto drops one place to number 77. Lucrezia Stefanini also drops four places to number 151, while Nuria Brancaccio drops six to number 180. Giorgia Pedone also takes a step back to number 210. This week, Cocciaretto and Stefanini (repêchaged as lucky losers) are in the draw for the WTA 250 in Prague. There are no changes in the top ten of the rankings. Aryna Sabalenka remains in the lead for the 40th consecutive week (her 48th overall: she had already held the top spot from 11 September to 5 November 2023): the 27-year-old from Minsk maintains a 4,751-point lead over the Paris champion, the American Coco Gauff, who retains her “best ranking”. On the third step of the podium is the queen of Wimbledon, Poland's Iga Swiatek, former world number one who lost the lead last autumn after 125 weeks in total (the last 50 consecutive).
