Turin, 22 July (LaPresse) – Qatar has officially submitted its bid to host the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics. ‘We currently have 95% of the necessary sports infrastructure in place and have a national plan to ensure that it is 100% ready,’ said Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, head of the Qatari Olympic Committee and president of the bid committee, in a statement. Qatar recently hosted the 2022 World Cup and has expressed interest in hosting the 2024 Olympics and, above all, the 2032 Olympics, which have already been awarded to Brisbane. If Qatar is chosen by the IOC, it will become the first Middle Eastern country to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. However, competition for the 2036 edition is fierce, with countries such as South Korea, India, Egypt, South Africa, Turkey, Indonesia and Hungary already expressing interest.
