Turin, 22 July (LaPresse) – Valentin Paret Peintre pulls off a stunning victory on Mont Ventoux. The French rider from Soudal Quick Step won the 16th stage of the Tour de France, finishing at the top of the legendary Alpine climb ahead of his breakaway companion Ben Healy (EF Education EasyPost) and Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious), who finished four seconds behind. Behind them, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) retained the yellow jersey, finishing 43" behind the winner in a head-to-head battle with Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) that saw a series of attacks and counter-attacks and ended in a virtual tie, with the Dane conceding just two seconds to his rival.
