Geneva, July 22 (LaPresse) – Italy’s dream at the Women’s European Championship in Switzerland came to an end in dramatic fashion. Last night in Geneva, Soncin’s Azzurre were defeated 2–1 in extra time by reigning champions England. Italy took the lead in the 33rd minute through Barbara Bonansea. The British equalized deep into stoppage time, in the 96th minute, with a goal from Agyemang. The heartbreaking winner came in the 119th minute, when Kelly scored after Giuliani had saved her penalty. England now await the second finalist, who will emerge from tonight’s match in Zurich between Germany and Spain.
