Milan, 24 July (LaPresse) – Stefanos Tsitsipas has ended his collaboration with coach Goran Ivanisevic after less than two months. ‘Working with Goran was a short but intense experience and a truly valuable chapter in my journey,’ wrote the Greek former world number three in an Instagram story. Currently ranked 29th in the ATP rankings, Tsitsipas hired Ivanisevic as his coach in May after a series of disappointing results in Grand Slam tournaments. But Tsitsipas, who was knocked out in the first round of the Australian Open and in the second round at Roland Garros, defeated by Matteo Gigante who celebrated his first victory against a Top 20 player, continued his season in the majors with a first-round withdrawal at Wimbledon in his match against Frenchman Valentin Royer. The Greek had to abandon the match due to a back injury when he was trailing 6-3, 6-2. ‘One thing I hate is having to retire or stop a match,’ the Greek said in his post-match press conference. ‘And I haven't found myself in this situation so many times since it happened to me at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin two years ago.’
