Milan, 24 July (LaPresse) – Italy beats the United States 9-8 (partial scores 3-3, 2-1, 2-2, 2-2) and finishes seventh in the World Championships in Singapore. The Azzurri took a 5-3 lead with Ferrero scoring twice, then managed to hold on to their advantage, which was ultimately preserved by a header from Nicosia while the team was down two players during the last possession by the US. Di Somma also scored twice for the Azzurri and was voted MVP, while Cannella, Condemi, Bruni, Velotto and Cassia also found the back of the net.
