Milan, 25 July (LaPresse) – Italy has won its first medal at the World Fencing Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. Luca Curatoli secured the medal by reaching the semi-finals of the men's sabre competition. In the quarter-finals, the Italian beat the strong Hungarian Szilagy 15-12. No luck, however, for Pietro Torre, who was eliminated by Egypt's Hesham 15-8.
