Rome, July 30 (LaPresse) – German biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier has died on a mountain peak in northern Pakistan following a climbing accident, a government spokesperson confirmed. Recovery operations are currently underway. Rescuers confirmed Dahlmeier’s death on Laila Peak, according to Faizullah Faraq, spokesperson for the regional government of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Olympic gold medalist was climbing Laila Peak in the Karakoram mountain range on Monday when she was struck by a landslide.
