Rome, 1 August. (LaPresse) – Sara Curtis finished eighth in the world final of the 100m freestyle in Singapore. Gold went to Dutch swimmer Marrit Steenbergen with a time of 52.56, silver to Australian Mollie O'Callaghan with 52.67, and third place to American Torri Huske with 52.89. The Italian, the first Italian woman to reach a world final in the 100m freestyle, started well but had a noticeable drop in the final, failing to improve and finishing with a time of 53.41. ‘I lacked the comeback, I need to work harder, I was exhausted at the end. Disappointed? No, I'm disappointed but tired. Obviously, the goal was to reach the final and everyone dreams of a medal, but one day I'll get there. The results will come,’ she commented at the end of the race.
