Rome, Aug 4 (LaPresse) – Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, the final warm-up event before the US Open, according to U.S. media reports. It marks the second consecutive year the Serbian player has pulled out of the event. Djokovic will head into the last Grand Slam of the season without having played a single match since his semifinal loss to Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon—an absence of nearly a month and a half.
A spokesperson for the Cincinnati Open, which begins on August 7, confirmed Djokovic’s withdrawal. The Serbian star is still chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, a milestone that would rewrite tennis history. His last major win came at the US Open two years ago, and he has since played in seven Grand Slam tournaments without securing another victory. Djokovic last won in Cincinnati in 2023 but also skipped the tournament last year before being eliminated in the third round of the US Open.
