Rome, 8 August (LaPresse) – "Youth project? When I first spoke with the owners, the project they presented to me was aimed precisely in this direction, and it filled me with enthusiasm, given that I have done this with other teams. This direction is different for Roma. For example, when you turn to a different type of market, focusing on important players, you have different costs and ages. Those players can bring you immediate improvement, but in the long run they are less effective." These were the words of Gian Piero Gasperini during last night's episode of “Sky Sport 24 Calciomercato”. According to the Giallorossi coach, ‘we need to look at what we've done with the arrivals of Wesley, El Aynaoui, Ferguson and Ghilardi. They are all young guys and have already had important experiences. They are the type of players the owners asked me to bring in. This is not the usual direction for a team like Roma, but it's what we're trying to do. We want to build a team that can grow in this direction.’ Gasperini's goal for the season is ‘to gain credibility in the eyes of our fans and to be recognised that we are doing a job that can bring them satisfaction. We hope it will take as little time as possible. Roma must always be ambitious and look up, but right now what I hope to gain is credibility. Let's hope we're on the right track.’
