Berlin (Germany), 10 August (LaPresse/AP) – Florian Wirtz has been voted German Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season. The former Bayer Leverkusen player, who moved to Liverpool for a record £116 million, received 191 votes, ahead of Bayern Munich's Michael Olise (81), Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade (71) and Thomas Muller (70), Bayern Munich star who ended up in MLS with Vancouver. ‘I can't think of a more worthy successor than you,’ Toni Kroos told Wirtz. The award for best coach of the year went to Julian Schuster, who led Freiburg to fifth place in the Bundesliga, securing qualification for the Europa League.
