Rome, Aug. 31 (LaPresse) – Oscar Piastri wins the Dutch Grand Prix with McLaren and seriously extends his lead in the world championship after his teammate Lando Norris retired seven laps from the end, betrayed by his engine while firmly in second place. Local hero Max Verstappen took second place on the podium with Red Bull ahead of French-Algerian Isack Hadjar, Racing Bulls driver, who achieved his best result ever. In the final laps, after the safety car intervened due to oil on the track left by Norris' car, Piastri resisted the Dutch world champion's attempts to overtake. It was a disastrous race for the ‘reds’. Hamilton crashed on lap 32, while Leclerc, who had made a risky overtaking maneuver on George Russell a few laps earlier, was forced to retire after a collision with Kimi Antonelli on lap 53. The Italian driver went inside on the banked corner and took a gamble, catching the Monegasque driver, who spun and ended up in the barriers. Russell finished fourth ahead of Albon and Bearman. Stroll, Alonso, Tsunoda, and Ocon rounded out the top ten.
