New York, Sept 1 (LaPresse) – Iga Swiatek has reached the quarterfinals of the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the current season held on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows, New York. The Polish player, ranked number two in the world, defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 12th in the WTA, in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, Swiatek will face the winner of the match between Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia and American Amanda Anisimova.
