Turin, 9 September (LaPresse) – It was already clear that Jannik Sinner had a special bond with the city of Turin, given the extraordinary welcome reserved for the South Tyrolean during his appearances at the Nitto ATP Finals (in 2021, 2023 and 2024, the year of his first title in the year-end tournament). Now, however, the Piedmontese city has made a decision that further certifies this special relationship: the world No. 2 will be awarded honorary citizenship of Turin. This decision was taken precisely to celebrate the relationship that has developed in recent years at the Finals, as Mayor Stefano Lo Russo explained: ‘Jannik is a virtuous example of how to interpret the role of an athlete, because there are different ways of winning and different ways of losing. Sinner,’ he added, ‘takes to the court expressing an ethical and value-based approach that brings him closer to the spirit of Turin.’
