Rome, Sept. 20 (LaPresse) – "The Rome derby is famous worldwide, especially for the spectacle of the fans, the choreographies, the atmosphere; it’s a different kind of match beyond the standings and the league. It’s a city rivalry on the pitch that makes everything more exciting and intense," said Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma’s coach, at the press conference on the eve of the derby against Lazio.
"The derbies that matter are the ones you win; the ones you draw you don’t remember, and the ones you lose you forget immediately. Playing in the fourth round, it’s true it’s early, but it’s the initial part of the season when teams are perhaps more focused on building themselves rather than improving. The schedule has dictated this, but this match immediately raises attention on the league," he added.
"Lazio is a great team with an excellent coach who has done well everywhere he’s been. They didn’t make any market moves and remained the same team as last year, which, aside from the last two months, had achieved very good results. I respect the value of this team and some of its players. It will be a high-level match," Gasperini explained.
