Cagliari, Nov. 12 (LaPresse) – The new stadium in Cagliari has received final approval. Mayor Massimo Zedda announced the positive conclusion of the decisive conference of services, the last bureaucratic step needed to approve the project. "We have been waiting ten years for this news," Zedda emphasized. "Today, the decisive conference of services has ended positively, approving the new stadium project." It was a long process, involving technical steps, environmental studies, and extensive documentation. Now, as the mayor explains, the process is concluded also in terms of environmental and landscape permits, obtained through the single regional authorization procedure (formerly known as environmental impact assessment). The new stadium project thus moves into the operational phase. "We will move quickly on the next steps," Zedda added. "As soon as Cagliari Calcio submits the updated financial plan, work can begin on the requirements to publish the international tender for the construction and management of the new facility." The stadium will be built in the Sant'Elia district as a modern venue, designed not only to be the "new home of football" but also to host "concerts, shows and major events," becoming a "point of reference for all Sardinians."
