Geneva (Switzerland), Dec. 17 (LaPresse/AP) – Following protests over high ticket prices, FIFA has decided to lower the prices of some tickets for the upcoming World Cup, dedicated to the most loyal fans of the participating national teams. This means that some supporters following their teams will pay only $60 instead of $4,185 to attend. The world football governing body announced on Tuesday that the cheap tickets will be allocated to the federations of the qualified national teams, which will then decide how to distribute them to the fans who have followed their teams most closely in previous home and away matches. FIFA has called these tickets ‘Supporter Entry Tier’ and between 400 and 750 are expected to be available per national team for each match.
