Milan, Dec. 17 (LaPresse/AP) – Boxer Terence Crawford, 38, has announced his retirement from boxing. The athlete is leaving at the peak of his career, after winning the pound-for-pound title with a convincing victory over Canelo Alvarez in September. “Every boxer knows this moment will come, but you never know when,” Crawford said in a 5½-minute video in which he explains and clarifies that he is at peace with his decision. Crawford is the only male boxer to have won three unified titles, which he achieved with that victory over Alvarez in front of 70,482 fans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This allowed Crawford to win the super middleweight title and a record of 42-0 with 31 knockouts. His last 20 fights were contested with the belt on the line.
