Rome, Jan. 4 (LaPresse) – The tie between Italy and Switzerland in Group C at Perth’s RAC Arena, closing day 3 of the United Cup, will be decided in the mixed doubles. Flavio Cobolli defeated Stan Wawrinka 6–4, 6–7(2), 7–6(4) in a spectacular match, evening out Jasmine Paolini’s loss to Belinda Bencic.“It’s a pleasure to play against Wawrinka. As I told him at the net, every day he taught me something, and I wish him all the best for his final season. Playing with my father as coach and captain is the biggest challenge. This is the first tie of the season, and we are happy with the level of tennis I displayed. I also felt the support of many Italians; it’s great to play in front of such a crowd,” said the Italian player after the match.
