Milan, 15 January (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner will face France's Hugo Gaston in his debut at the 2026 Australian Open, with the South Tyrolean tennis player – ranked number 2 in the world – having won the last two editions of the first Grand Slam of the year. Sinner, seeded in the bottom half of the draw alongside Novak Djokovic, could face Brazilian prospect Joao Fonseca in the third round. On the other side of the draw are Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. For the number 5 in the rankings, Lorenzo Musetti, the first round will see him face Belgian Raphael Collignon. If he wins, the Tuscan tennis player could meet Lorenzo Sonego in the second round, who will make his debut against Spain's Taberner. Matteo Berrettini is unlucky, facing world number 6 Alex de Minaur in his debut, as are Matteo Arnaldi, who will face Russia's Andrey Rublev, world number 14, and Mattia Bellucci, who will face world number 12 Casper Ruud. Luciano Darderi will face Chile's Garin, while Flavio Cobolli and Luca Nardi will face a qualifier or lucky loser.
