Rome, 19 January (LaPresse) – "Actually, I was upset about it to a certain extent. I know it's difficult to keep track of everything in these circumstances. I simply expressed my opinion. I didn't receive a response, and I'm sorry about that. But now is the time to talk about sport and competitions, which are what really matter. The Olympics are about the athletes, so we need to be a little more careful in these matters, nothing more." These were the words of Piero Gros, one of the great protagonists of the Italian ski team, winner of the overall World Cup and the giant slalom World Cup in 1974, and Olympic and world champion in the special slalom in Innsbruck in 1976, speaking on Radio Anch'io Sport on Rai Radio 1, on the torchbearer controversy that has erupted in recent days in the run-up to the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
