Milan, 22 January (LaPresse) – The Olympic flame passed through the streets of Venice on an epic journey, gliding along the Grand Canal on boats and crossing St Mark's Basin. Venice has historically been a crucial meeting point between Eastern and Western civilisations. The flame arrived at Piazzale Roma at sunset, crossing the Ponte delle Guglie and the Ponte di Rialto. Venice is the 46th stop on the torch relay, which will last 63 days and cover 12,000 kilometres. The relay started in Rome and will pass through all 110 Italian provinces before reaching the San Siro Stadium in Milan for the opening ceremony on 6 February.
