Turin, 24 January (LaPresse) – Mourning in the world of football as Nazzareno Canuti dies at 70. Born on 15 January 1956 in Bozzolo (Piacenza), Canuti represented an important chapter in Inter's history, wearing the Milan shirt in Serie B at the time and, in the latter years of his career, those of Genoa, Catania and Solbiatese. ‘A man and a footballer who wore the Nerazzurri shirt with pride, dedication and a spirit of sacrifice, fully embodying the values of the Club,’ reads an official statement from Inter. After coming through the youth ranks, Canuti made 183 appearances and scored one goal between 1976 and 1982. ‘A reliable and generous defender,’ the Nerazzurri club emphasised, "he stood out for his athleticism, determination and great ability in the air, always putting himself at the service of the team. During his time at Inter, he contributed to the club winning one Scudetto and two Coppa Italia trophies, forming part of a close-knit and successful group that wrote important pages in the Nerazzurri's history. His connection with Inter began at a very young age, when he was just 14, and has remained indelible over time. His name remains etched in the memory of the club and all Inter fans as an example of dedication to the shirt and professionalism."
