Bucharest (Romania), Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – Seven PAOK Thessaloniki fans died in a road accident in Romania while traveling to Lyon for a Europa League match. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced: “I have been informed of the tragic accident in Romania, which claimed the lives of seven young compatriots.” “The Greek government and our embassy are in close coordination with local authorities, providing every possible form of support,” he added. PAOK was in direct contact with the government, coordinating support for the families and injured fans and sending club representatives to Romania. Supporters’ associations of rival clubs Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, Aris, and others sent messages of unity and condolences. The match in France is scheduled for Thursday.
