Bormio (Sondrio), 11 February (LaPresse) – American skier Lindsey Vonn announced in a Facebook post that she underwent her third surgery after fracturing her left leg during the Olympic downhill. "I had my third surgery today and it was a success. Success today has a completely different meaning than it did a few days ago. I'm making progress and as long as it's slow, I know I'll be fine. Thank you to all the incredible medical staff, friends and family who have been by my side and for all the love and support from people around the world. Also, endless congratulations to my teammates and all the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for," wrote the American champion, who posted a photo of herself in her hospital bed.
