Bormio (Sondrio), 14 February. (LaPresse) – ‘It was the only option, I tried to attack at full speed, to give everything I had. I did well in the first section, then I had to understand the dynamics, I took the wrong line and went out. I tried, that's skiing.’ These were the words of Alex Vinatzer in the mixed zone after going out in the second run of the giant slalom at the Milan-Cortina Games on the Stelvio slope. The Italian will now compete in the slalom, the last race of the alpine skiing programme: "We've seen here that it's an advantage to have the first bibs, you have to attack with everything you've got. What's missing? We're all looking for hundredths of a second and to give our best. Skiing is a sport where if you do everything right, it all looks easy, we work all the time to make it look easy. We're not giving up. I've embarked on a journey with Mauro, and there's still work to be done,‘ he added. ’Was there a chance of doing it today? I don't know, but we were certainly in a good position. The top three are the ones who have almost always been on the podium during the season. Now we have to forget about it, not get downhearted and think about the next races. Anything can happen at the Olympics. I'll give it my best shot in the slalom and take a few risks. I'll try to win a medal. The combined event put so much pressure on me that I couldn't handle it. Today, I was on the attack. There have been ups and downs, but the Olympic environment is very supportive," he concluded.
