Milan, 16 February (LaPresse) – ‘This is the same refereeing team that was there last year, there was a referee designator, we at Inter lost the Scudetto by one point and in the Inter-Roma match, a sensational penalty kick in our favour was awarded after the fact, which could have determined the final outcome of the championship, we abided by the decisions.’ This was stated by Inter president Beppe Marotta upon arriving at the Lega Calcio for today's meeting, regarding the controversy surrounding Alessandro Bastoni's simulation that led to the sending off of Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu in Saturday evening's Derby d'Italia. ‘This year, personally, Inter and I have only intervened on one occasion, in Naples, when a penalty was awarded which, in my opinion, changed the game in a different way to Saturday's. A penalty that was then analysed by the relevant bodies and was declared to be definitely not correct,’ Marotta recalls. ‘So, we are faced with a malaise, we are faced with a general situation, very well, then the referees, understood as an organisation, must take responsibility, as must the CAN and the AIA, the clubs, through their managers, coaches, players, the federation, all the institutional bodies,’ explains Marotta.
