Turin, 19 March (LaPresse) – Matteo Berrettini, ranked 68th in the world, defeated France’s Alexandre Muller (No. 90) 6-4, 6-2 in his opening match at the Miami Open. It was an important victory to kick off his campaign at the second Masters 1000 tournament of the season, where the Roman is defending his quarter-final spot from last year. In the second round, the Italian will face Alexander Bublik, the tournament’s No. 10 seed and world No. 11. The Kazakh won their only head-to-head meeting at this level in 2021, on the hard courts of Antalya. In 2017, however, the Italian won the semi-final at the Istanbul Challenger.
