Milan, 28 March (LaPresse) – Kimi Antonelli continues to make his mark at the Japanese Grand Prix, the third round of the Formula 1 World Championship. The Italian, driving his Mercedes, having won the Chinese Grand Prix, secured pole position today, Saturday 28 March, at Suzuka with a best time of 1:28.778, finishing 0.3 seconds ahead of his team-mate George Russell. Oscar Piastri, in his McLaren, will start from third place after clocking a time of 1:29.132. Fourth place went to Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, which finished qualifying more than six-tenths of a second behind the Italian. Further back was Lewis Hamilton: in the second Ferrari, he will start from the third row with the sixth-fastest time, behind the other McLaren driven by Lando Norris, the reigning world champion. Disappointment for Max Verstappen: the Dutchman in his Red Bull was eliminated in Q2 and will start 11th.
