Jupiter Island (Florida, USA), 28 March (LaPresse/AP) – Tiger Woods was released on bail a few hours after being arrested in Florida on a charge of drink-driving. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. The golf champion was at the wheel of his Land Rover when he collided with a pick-up truck towing a small trailer. Woods, who was uninjured in the accident, agreed to a breathalyser test which detected no traces of alcohol, but refused to undergo a urine test and was consequently arrested. According to the sheriff, Woods was travelling at “high speed” along a residential road and, following the accident, showed “signs of impairment”. Under Florida law, a person must spend at least eight hours in custody before being eligible for bail.
