Gallivare (Sweden), March 29 (LaPresse) – Simone Deromedis ends the season in triumph: in the second race of the final stage in Gallivare, Sweden, the Olympic champion claimed his third World Cup victory of the season, in addition to his Olympic win in Livigno. On the podium, the Trentino athlete once again finds Edoardo Zorzi, who finished third despite a fall in the final, marking another double Italian podium, as at the start of the season and especially in Livigno. The victory came after an exciting duel with Canadian Reece Howden, winner of the overall standings, decided only at the photo finish, with the 25-year-old from Trentino edging out by a fraction of his right hand. A collision with German Himmelsbach in the upper part of the course took Zorzi out of contention in the final; nevertheless, the Bergamo native secured third place, just as he did in the season opener in Val Thorens, when he was second behind Deromedis.
