The coach of the national team Rino Gattuso said this on Rai Sport, a few hours before the final of the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff in Zenica against Bosnia. "The eyes of the guys I've seen so far are good, because in all these days we've been together and the environment has always been positive. Tonight we're playing an important match and we've prepared it well, with the awareness of playing against a team that has technique and physicality", declared the technical commissioner. "It will take a great performance from us – added Gattuso – the boys are the first ones who want to go to the World Cup: if the results don't arrive, they suffer in silence; they pretend to have broad shoulders, but that's not the case". "I can assure you that they will do everything: there are people who would give their life and soul to achieve this goal. You feel pressure, you feel like a country on your shoulders and the responsibility of the people around you", concluded the Italian coach.
