Rome, 13 May (LaPresse) – Victor Wembanyama responded to his sending-off in Game 4 with a dominant performance in Game 5, scoring 18 points in the first quarter alone and finishing with 27 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks to propel the San Antonio Spurs to a victory that puts them 3-2 up in the series. Joining him were five other teammates in double figures, with Keldon Johnson scoring 21 and De’Aaron Fox 18, as they pulled away at the end of the third quarter to reach a final lead of 29 points. For Minnesota, who managed to come back from 18 points down to level the game, Anthony Edwards’ 20 points and 17 each from Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels were not enough, leaving them just one defeat away from elimination.
