Imperia, 21 May (LaPresse) – Belgian rider Alec Segaert won the 12th stage of the Giro d'Italia, a 175-km route from Imperia to Novi Ligure. The Bahrain Victorious rider launched a devastating attack around 3 km from the finish line to beat his compatriot Toon Aerts of the Lotto-Intermarché team and Uruguayan Thomas Silva of XDS Astana. Portugal’s Afonso Eulalio of Bahrain Victorious consolidated his lead in the race thanks to time bonuses, extending his advantage to +0.33‘ over Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard of Visma and +2'17’ over the Netherlands’ Thymen Arensman of Netcompany Ineos. Tomorrow’s 13th stage covers 189 km from Alessandria to Verbania.
