Washington (US), January 10 (LaPresse/AP) – The United States Supreme Court has rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s request to delay the sentencing in the case involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The Court’s 5-4 decision paves the way for Judge Juan M. Merchan to issue a sentence today. Trump was convicted in what prosecutors described as an attempt to cover up a $130,000 payment to Daniels to secure her silence about an alleged sexual relationship before the 2016 election.
Trump has denied any affair with Daniels or wrongdoing. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joined the Court’s three liberal justices in rejecting the emergency motion.
