Milan, Jan 18 (LaPresse) – South Korea's deposed president, Yoon Suk Yeol, has been formally arrested, just days after being detained at his presidential residence in Seoul. The arrest of Yoon, who is under indictment for his proclamation of martial law early last December, could mark the beginning of a long prison term for the South Korean politician. The Seoul Western District Court granted the arrest request against Yoon, saying he posed a threat of possible destruction of evidence. The former president's lawyers had demanded Yoon's release.
