Milan, Jan 18 (LaPresse) – Supporters of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, following his formal arrest by the court days after his detention in the presidential compound in Seoul, broke into the court, smashing windows. This was reported by the South Korean Yonhap news agency, pointing out that some threw a plastic chair, rubbish and other objects towards police officers surrounding the court building. ‘President Yoon Suk Yeol’, ‘President Yoon’, the protesters shouted. Yoon, who has been in detention since he was arrested on Wednesday in a massive law enforcement operation in his compound, faces potential rebellion charges related to his declaration of martial law last 3 December, which triggered the country's most serious political crisis since its democratisation in the late 1980s. Martial law remained in force for only a few hours.
