Rome, 26 Jan (LaPresse) – ‘I have just been informed that two repatriation flights from the United States, with a large number of illegal criminals, have not been allowed to land in Colombia. This order was given by the socialist president of Colombia Gustavo Petro, who is already very unpopular among his people. Petro's denial of these flights has jeopardised the national security and public safety of the United States, so I have ordered my administration to take urgent and decisive retaliatory measures immediately'. US President Donald Trump wrote this on Truth. The measures include: ‘emergency tariffs of 25 per cent on all goods arriving in the United States’ which ‘will be increased to 50 per cent within a week’. ‘Travel bans and immediate visa revocation for Colombian government officials and all allies and supporters’. ‘Visa sanctions for all party members, family members and supporters of the Colombian government. ‘Enhanced inspections by customs and border protection authorities on all Colombian citizens and their goods for reasons of national security. These measures, Trump added, ‘are just the beginning’. ‘We will not allow the Colombian government to violate its legal obligations regarding the acceptance and repatriation of criminals.’
