Turin, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations to Alexander Lukashenko on his reelection as President of Belarus. Xi emphasized that he had maintained "close contact" with Lukashenko in recent times, jointly planning and guiding the development of China-Belarus relations and elevating ties between the two countries to their "highest level in history," according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
"The mutual political trust between the two sides continues to strengthen, and cooperation in the joint construction of the 'Belt and Road' and multilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results," Xi stated. "I attach great importance to the development of China-Belarus relations and am willing to work with the Belarusian President to maintain the traditional friendship between our two countries, deepen our mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote further development of China-Belarus relations to benefit both peoples."
