Brussels, February 13 (LaPresse) – Regarding Ukraine, "there is no betrayal. As I told our allies yesterday, we recognize the incredible commitment that has been made over many years. And no country, as President Trump has emphasized, has made a greater commitment to the Ukrainian mission than the United States of America—over 300 billion dollars. The U.S. has invested in stabilizing those front lines after Russia’s aggression. There is no betrayal there," said U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth upon his arrival at the NATO Defense Ministerial in Brussels.

"There is recognition that the whole world, including the United States, is invested in and interested in peace—a negotiated peace, as President Trump has said, to stop the killing. And that will require both sides to acknowledge things they do not want to," he added.

"That’s why I think the world is fortunate to have President Trump. Only he, at this moment, can bring together the major powers to achieve peace, and that is a positive sign," Hegseth remarked.

"I believe you saw yesterday from President Trump, who is himself the best negotiator on the planet, how he is bringing both sides together to reach a negotiated peace—which, ultimately, is what everyone wants," he reiterated.
