Milan, 22 Feb (LaPresse) – Two of the six hostages to be released today by Hamas have been handed over to Red Cross officials in Rafah, in southern Gaza. They are Avera Mengistu, who was kidnapped in 2014 after crossing into the Gaza Strip, and Tal Shoham, 40, who was taken from Kibbutz Be'eri on 7 October 2023. Four more hostages are expected to be released today in Nuseirat. The two, as reported by the Times of Israel, appear thin and frail, but on their feet. Shoham is seen for the first time since his capture on 7 October 2023. Mengistu, apart from a video from captivity a few years ago, appears for the first time since 2014.
