Turin, 27 Feb. (LaPresse) – ‘NATO is not at risk. The only thing that puts NATO at risk is the fact that we have allies that barely have armed forces or that have poorly capable armed forces because they have spent 40 years without investing money in them. We are NATO’. This was stated by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in an interview with Fox News. ‘These are rich countries, especially in Western Europe. They have a lot of money. They should invest in their national security, and they don't. There are countries that spend 1.5 percent, 1 percent of their economy, and we can't continue to subsidise this. It is not fair and it is not sustainable,’ he explained. “What puts NATO at risk is the fact that in some cases we do not have adequate allies. Now, others have done it. Poland, the Czech Republic. There are several countries that have done it, but some have not. And these are rich countries: Germany, France. We know this. So this problem must be solved,” he added.
